Since the inception of Delray Beach Youth Tennis Foundation, we have had this annual tennis tournament as our largest fundraiser. This year we honored Sarah Strong, an avid tennis player, who believed in our children and mission. Sarah’s parents, Melissa and Steve Strong, have continued to be advocates of our organization. It was a fun afternoon of tennis and a reception learning about our program and supporting our vision.

We had 2 of our 3 2022 USTA Florida Sectional Winners read their essays. Alexander won for 14 and Under boys and Phillipo won for 10 and Under boys. Their essay answered the question: Mr. Dinkins was convinced that tennis instills confidence, character, sportsmanship, and teamwork. Do you agree that tennis develops these positive qualities?

Alexander “Playing doubles is a great way to build teamwork because you have to communicate to your partner who is going to get the ball. Tennis has helped me build confidence because when the score is tied it makes me feel that I can win the next two points.”

Phillipo “I always have fun on the tennis court even if I don’t win the match, I still win because I learned something and I practice to be a better tennis player. I really like tennis and I want to play it every day!”
