Two Delray Beach Students Win NJTL’s Sectional Essay Contest

NJTL Essay Contest Winners

This weekend our staff celebrated two students from our DBYTF program. Evelyn and Vanely are the 2019 Section Winners of the NJTL Essay Contest that is presented by Deloitte. They each won in their age group for the 10 and under girls and boys, out of more than 2,600 entries submitted!

The USTA National Junior Tennis and Learning (NJTL) is celebrating its 50th anniversary, and this year students were asked to answer this question:

“This year marks the 50th anniversary of NJTL. What specific impact do you hope your chapter can make in your community today that you would want remembered 50 years from now?”

The NJTL network is a nationwide network of community tennis organizations seeking to develop the character of young people through tennis and education. NJTLs are unique because they offer a variety of on-court programming and educational and life skills programming designed to enhance a child’s overall development.

The Delray Beach Youth Tennis Foundation works to provide our students with the academic support and life skills to help them with their everyday lives. Each year we submit essays from 150 of our students, and we’re ecstatic when one is selected as a winner.

We are grateful to our partners which make our work possible:

Delray Beach Parks and Recreation
Delray Beach Catherine Strong Splash Park
Delray Beach City Commission
Achievement Center of Delray Beach
S.D. Spady Elementary School
Village Academy

This year was extra special having both a girl and a boy chosen as winners. We couldn’t be more proud!
